Severe T'storm Watch dropped for metro region

The National Weather Service has discontinued the Severe Thunderstorm Watch that had been issued earlier. Nonetheless, showers and thunderstorms will impact much of the area overnight and a few could still be strong (particularly through midnight) -- with locally heavy rain, gusty winds, and small hail.

Some of the storms from earlier this evening produced large hail, mostly in the north and west suburbs -- with up to 1.5" diameter hail in NW Montgomery County near Damascus. Large hail has also been reported in Rockville.
