Strong to Severe Storms Moving Through

Heavy rain and some damaging winds main threats

A line of strong thunderstorms that moved through the western suburbs, and now stretches mainly from the District toward points north and east, will advance eastward and impact areas along and east of I-95 during the next hour or so. (Another line of storms is affecting far southern and eastern portions of the area.) Hot and humid conditions are adding plenty of fuel to the storms, and the main threats look to be dangerous lightning, locally heavy rainfall, some damaging winds and possibly an isolated tornado. This line should exit the area in time for the commute home, and could be it as far as the threat of severe weather is concerned. Still, more showers and storms could form in its wake.
