Twin tornadoes at night caught on tape in Iowa, chasers go berserk

Multiple tornadoes ripped through western Iowa, Saturday, including one which leveled 20 percent of the town of Mapleton. Roughly one hundred miles to the northeast in Pocahontas, a team of storm chasers captured some the most incredible nighttime tornado footage I have ever seen.

Watch below, as the chasers, assisted by near-constant lightning, capture on tape not one, but two tornadoes . The dramatic commentary conveys the frazzled, exuberant reaction to nature’s power, reminscent of the narration of the Hempfield, Pa. tornado and Yosemite double rainbow.

As Mike Smith of Meteorological Musings notes, the video also helps to demonstrate the true danger posed by nighttime tornadoes
