Weather Service: Watch out for street flooding

* Rain not going away: Full Forecast | Beaches bearing storm's brunt *

The National Weather Service issued the following public information statement about the risk of street flooding:

...STREET FLOODING...

SEVERAL INCHES OF RAIN ARE POSSIBLE OVER THE NEXT COUPLE OF DAYS...ESPECIALLY ALONG AND EAST OF INTERSTATE 95. THE RAINFALL WILL BE STEADY AND PROLONGED...THEREFORE FLASH FLOODING OR RIVER FLOODING DUE TO HEAVY RAIN IS NOT EXPECTED.

HOWEVER...THIS TIME OF YEAR IS PRIME FOR PRODUCING HIGH STANDING WATER ON ROADS AND STREETS...ESPECIALLY IN URBANIZED AREAS. IT IS ALSO MORE DIFFICULT FOR RAINFALL TO RUN OFF INTO TIDAL AREAS BECAUSE OF HIGHER THAN NORMAL TIDES. IT IS A GOOD IDEA TO CHECK STORM DRAINS IN YOUR AREA AND CLEAR OUT FALLEN LEAVES AND DEBRIS. BALTIMORE CITY...WASHINGTON DC...ALEXANDRIA AND ANNAPOLIS ARE AT GREATEST RISK FOR STREET FLOODING.
