What pattern change? Long range models predict more warmth for U.S.

For all the hype (not from CWG) about a pattern change to cold and stormy conditions across the U.S. advertised on Twitter and Facebook, the latest computer model simulations sure don’t seem to be on board. Check out this outlook generated by NOAA that interprets 40 different computer model forecasts for the period January 19-25.

8 to 14 day temperature outlook from North American Ensemble Forecast System covering the period January 19 to 25. The different color shades indicate the percentage of 40 different model forecasts that forecast below normal, near normal, or above normal temperatures. (NOAA)
That’s a big ouch for winter weather lovers.
