Kinda breezy, but decent sun and highs flirting with 50 make for an OK start to spring.

Express Forecast

Today: Mostly sunny a.m., increasing p.m. clouds. A bit breezy. Near 50 to low 50s.

Tonight: 30% chance or rain or snow showers. Upper 20s to mid-30s.

Tomorrow: Partly to mostly cloudy, breezy. Flurry? Near 40 to low 40s.

FORECAST IN DETAIL

Today is a decent start to spring with some sun and temperatures aiming for near or a bit past 50. Tomorrow, though, is a significant step in the wrong direction with cold and windy conditions. We recover to near and past 50 Friday into the weekend, but I don’t see any of those 60s and 70s in sight that I’m sure many of you are craving. Even more annoying for warm-weather fans, we’re watching a mixed precipitation threat, albeit a highly uncertain one, for Sunday into Monday.

Today (Wednesday): Mostly sunny morning skies and a warming breeze from the west at 10-20 mph should be enough to get highs near 50 to the low 50s, even with increasing afternoon clouds. Still several degrees below the average high, but not much to complain about besides a bit of a gusty breeze. Confidence: High

Tonight: Might see a few rain or snow showers during the evening and overnight (30% chance) with a cold front coming through. Shouldn’t cause much trouble. Lows settle in the upper 20s to mid-30s (suburbs to city) under partly to mostly cloudy skies. Confidence: Medium

Tomorrow (Thursday): Partly to mostly cloudy skies might squeeze out a few flurries. The main story, though, is a cold breeze from the northwest, gusting near 30 mph and making already chilly highs near 40 to the low 40s feel even colder. Confidence: Medium-High

Tomorrow night: Dry air and a cold air mass combine for a rather chilly night given average lows are now in the mid-to-upper 30s. Overnight lows bottom in the mid-20s to low 30s with partly cloudy skies above. Confidence: Medium-High

A LOOK AHEAD

Friday and Saturday shape up as a pair of partly to mostly sunny days with highs in the upper 40s to low 50s. So, still on the cold side, but not terribly breezy. And with the sun it might feel kind of nice outside during the warmest part of the afternoon. How about Friday night and Saturday night lows? Upper 20s to mid-30s should do it. Confidence: Medium

Sometime in the Sunday-Monday timeframe we might see rain or mixed precipitation if a storm developing to our south doesn’t miss us to the south. Sunday highs should reach the mid-40s to low 50s. Confidence: Low
