FORECAST IN DETAIL

We say goodbye to the dismal clouds and drizzle, if not this morning then by afternoon, and hello to a nice stretch of partly to mostly sunny weather into or through the weekend. Temperatures behave nicely as well, not too hot and not too cold, but just about average. It looks to be just the kind of weather we’ll be yearning for in June or July when the heat and humidity has arrived in full force.

Today (Wednesday): We eventually trend in the right direction today after the dreary start to this work week. Morning clouds and perhaps a touch of early-morning drizzle or fog should give way to partly to mostly sunny skies by late morning or early afternoon. Morning temperatures rise through the 50s on their way to afternoon highs in the upper 60s to near 70. Confidence: Medium-High

Tonight: With clear skies and light winds, temperatures drop back toward lows in the mid-40s to low 50s, which is right around average for the start of May. Confidence: High

Tomorrow (Thursday): High pressure locks in overhead, spelling mostly sunny skies and comfortable highs making a return trip to the upper 60s to near 70. This is good stuff, and with more to come! Confidence: High

Tomorrow night: A nice evening in store and another overnight much like tonight, as lows bottom in the upper 40s to low 50s. Confidence: High

A LOOK AHEAD

A bit of an onshore flow Friday may create some extra clouds. We’ll call it partly sunny, but with highs still able to climb to the upper 60s to near 70, then back to the mid-40s to low 50s for Friday night lows. Confidence: Medium

The weekend is looking good at least to start. Saturday should be mostly sunny with highs in the upper 60s to low 70s. Sunday isn’t quite as straightforward. As of now, low pressure wants to stay far enough west to keep us dry and partly to mostly sunny with highs near 70 to the mid-70s, but if the low makes it close enough we could see more in the way of clouds and an afternoon shower chance. Confidence: Medium
