Our cloudy and damp story continues today, though it should be less rainy overall than yesterday. There is some sunlight at the end of the dreary tunnel as we warm up tomorrow and Friday, but no clean break from the clouds and shower opportunities. Even into the weekend the pattern remains unsettled but decently mild.

Today (Wednesday): The dreariness sticks around today with mostly cloudy skies and scattered showers likely. There is some improvement from yesterday, though. For one, a warmer breeze from the south or southeast should help highs to the upper 60s to near 70. Also, showers should be lighter and less numerous than yesterday, probably spitting out less than 0.25″. And if we’re lucky, skies may brighten a bit at times. Confidence: Medium

Tonight: Shower chances decrease to around 30% for the evening hours and just a slight chance overnight. Mostly cloudy skies persist as lows dip into the 50s. Confidence: Medium-High

Tomorrow (Thursday): I don’t think we’ll totally shake the clouds on Thursday. But I do think we’ll manage at least partly sunny skies, which combined with milder air working in should give highs a boost to the mid-to-upper 70s. We can’t completely escape the rain threat, either, with a 20-30% chance of a few showers or thundershowers. Confidence: Medium

Tomorrow night: Continued flow from the south-southwest keeps things mild with lows only down to the mid-50s to low 60s under partly cloudy skies. Confidence: Medium-High

A LOOK AHEAD

A cold front edges closer from the west on Friday. We’ll remain well on the warm side of the front with partly sunny skies and highs likely surging into the 80s. The front may get close enough for a 30-40% chance of showers or thunderstorms Friday afternoon or night. Confidence: Medium

We don’t have a great handle on the weekend forecast quite yet. The front probably lingers near the area on Saturday with a fair amount of clouds, a 50% chance of showers and thundershowers, and highs in the 70s. After a continued chance of showers Saturday night with lows in the 50s to near 60, shower odds should be lower on Sunday with highs near 70 to the mid-70s, but just how low depends on how fast the front moves away to our east. Confidence: Low-Medium
