One week ago we were staring in the face of an approaching serious severe weather threat. The picture is much different today as partly to mostly sunny and pleasant conditions prepare to set up shop tomorrow through much of the weekend. First we’ll have to deal with some lingering clouds and perhaps an isolated shower today, but at least the humidity is already on the decline.

Today (Wednesday): The air is noticeably drier today, though there’s just enough lingering moisture to warrant the chance of an isolated shower or two. Otherwise, cloudy skies should eventually give way to partial sunshine by late morning or early afternoon. Highs top out in the comfortable upper 70s to near 80, with winds around 10 mph from the north/northeast. Confidence: Medium-High

Tonight: We have a very pleasant night ahead as skies trend mostly clear through the evening and overnight, and winds become light or calm. Evening temperatures drop through the 70s, and into the upper 60s in the suburbs, on their way to overnight lows from the mid-50s in the coolest burbs to the low 60s downtown. Confidence: High

Tomorrow (Thursday): Looks like the pick of the week! Mostly sunny skies, low humidity, and light winds from the south/southeast make for a fabulous day with highs in the low-to-mid 80s. Confidence: High

Tomorrow night: A great day followed by a great night, as skies remain mostly clear and lows dip to the upper 50s to mid-60s. Confidence: High

A LOOK AHEAD

Friday, Saturday and Sunday are partly to mostly sunny and progressively warmer. Friday highs reach the mid-80s followed by Saturday and Sunday highs in the upper 80s to low 90s, with a 20% chance of a Sunday shower or thunderstorm. Humidity stays in the low to moderate range, which means fairly comfortable Friday night and Saturday night lows from near 60 to the mid-60s. Confidence: Medium
