Tonight: Decreasing breeze, mainly clear. Lows: Low-to-mid 60s.

FORECAST IN DETAIL

What more could we ask for? Let’s enjoy today before the eventual start of heat, haze, and humidity on our horizon. So, for now, take in our pleasant warmth. Soon enough we will have real summer back and also those shower and storm chances. You may want to have that small umbrella on-hand as we get into next week. But, I am sure area gardens will be happy to receive a small drink by then.

Today (Friday): It’s very sunny for our solstice and the air remains relatively humidity-free. Pool-bound or work-bound? Everyone should love low 80s, even perhaps a few mid-80s around the area (mainly south). Lather on the sunscreen please. Even consider a hat or sunglasses during midday hours with very high UV levels. That warm sun may be tempered a bit by a slight southeasterly breeze at 5-10 mph. Confidence: High

Tonight: Breezes slacken just a bit, and turn toward the east, making for a comfortable evening as skies remain mainly clear and temperatures slowly fall. By just before sunrise we should hit the low-to-mid 60s. Confidence: High

Tomorrow (Saturday): It may be a bit more muggy, but not terrible, as temperatures climb mainly toward the mid-to-upper 80s. A few spots, especially south of town, could see 90 degrees. Skies remain mostly sunny and breezes are light and variable. Confidence: High

Tomorrow night: Enjoy the bright moon after our long day (of light) comes to an end. Skies may be partially cloudy at times, but still somewhat comfortable are low temperatures heading down to the mid-to-upper 60s. Confidence: High

Sunday: Skies should be more sunny than not, but I cannot completely rule out a shower or thunderstorm. Any activity should be isolated and have a very low (10-20%) chance of popping up. But with temperatures rising into the upper 80s to low 90s you may want some cooling off? Humidity pretty much sneaks back in and re-establishes itself too. Confidence: Medium

A LOOK AHEAD

Sunday night: Shower chances quickly diminish after sunset and a mixture of clouds and stars remain behind. Low temperatures for the lucky spots outside the Beltway may dip into the upper 60s, but low 70s are possible inside the Beltway. Confidence: Low-Medium

Monday may end up being warm, muggy, and sunny. So get ready to sweat a little, but it should stop short of horrendous. With increased water vapor in the air comes a higher (30-40%) chance of an afternoon thundershower. High temperatures should easily get to around 90, perhaps a few mid-90s well south of town? Confidence: Medium

Tuesday looks really muggy as high temperatures get to 90 degrees easily and quickly. Most of us will be sweating under low-to-mid 90s, but check back again to see just how high we could get. Though chances are, not that much hotter than shown. With luck, we still have a 20% chance of a quick downpour to cool us off. Confidence: Low-Medium
