If today – summer’s first official day – felt more like spring, a taste of reality arrives this weekend. But that’s not all bad. Although humidity levels and temperatures both gradually rise, it could be a lot worse. Last year at this time it was well into the 90s (record 99 set on this date last year). We probably remain below 90 for the weekend’s duration.
Through Tonight: A splendid evening to be out with still low humidity and nice temperatures. Lows range from the mid-to-upper 50s in the cooler suburbs to the low 60s downtown. Winds are light.
Tomorrow (Saturday): A great beach day. Under mostly sunny skies, highs reach into the mid-80s (maybe a few upper 80s), with light winds from the southeast. Humidity levels are still not bad at all (dew points near 60 – which are low to moderate). Remember the sunscreen and hat: UV levels will be very high.
Saturday night and Sunday: A bit of mugginess returns. Overnight lows range from the low-to-mid 60s in the cooler suburbs to near 70 downtown. During Sunday, highs aim for the upper 80s and humidity is more firmly in the moderate to slightly uncomfortable range. There’s also a 20 percent chance of a late day thundershower.
