We got our first day of 95 degrees or higher this year under our belts today in D.C. Highs across most of the area have reached the mid-90s, though a few “cool” spots got stuck in the lower 90s. With heat indices factored in, it felt like around 100 out there. And there’s more — and even hotter — to come!

Through Tonight: Not the most enjoyable evening for outdoor activities, but temperatures should fall into the 80s prior to sunset. Partly to mostly clear skies of the evening persist into the night. No major break in the warmth even with darkness, as lows only fall to the low-and-mid 70s many spots. Downtown might get stuck in the upper 70s! Winds are light from the northwest.

Tomorrow (Tuesday): Remember today? Let’s do it again tomorrow, but probably with temperatures at least a degree or two warmer most spots. Highs reach the mid-90s (about 93-97) under mostly to partly sunny skies. Winds are from the north and northwest around 5-10 mph.

Backwards storm: In stark contrast to our current heat (which oftentimes would build in from the west), the southern Plains is seeing a cool and rainy day today. This is thanks to the same system that caused flooding around here late last week. The unusual track has pushed the storm all the way into Texas and the southwest U.S. where much needed rain is falling.

Pollen update: Tree, grass and weed pollen is LOW. Mold spores are MEDIUM/HIGH.
