FORECAST IN DETAIL

Honk your horn if you see the cold front coming through today because this one is worth celebrating. Ok, so you might not “see” the front, but you will feel it in the form of drier air blowing in. Yes, that’s right, the humidity is finally going to take a hike, at least for a couple days. Temperatures are down a bit as well. Mugginess makes somewhat of a comeback this weekend, but there’s no big heat wave on the immediate horizon.

Today (Wednesday): Better weather begins to filter in with a bit cooler temperatures and humidity hopefully on its way down by afternoon, thanks to 10-15 mph winds from the northwest. Highs head for the mid-to-upper 80s under partly sunny skies, and a few showers or thundershowers are possible (40% chance) as a cold front moves through. Confidence: Medium

Tonight: Can’t rule out an isolated shower or two through the night in case the front lingers close enough to our south. But otherwise we’re looking at partly cloudy skies and drier air continuing to move in on light winds from the north. And lows dip lower than we’ve seen in quite a while, down to lows from near 60 to mid-60s. Confidence: Medium-High

Tomorrow (Thursday): Well, we’ve been waiting a long time for a day like this. The air is dry and temperatures are pretty much in the comfort zone for late July. Highs in the low-to-mid 80s feel mighty nice, especially with partly to mostly sunny skies and a cool breeze from the north. Just a slight chance of a passing shower or sprinkle. Confidence: Medium-High

Tomorrow night: Nice night to look forward to, with humidity still in check, partly cloudy skies and lows mainly in the 60s. Confidence: Medium-High

A LOOK AHEAD

I doubt anyone will complain about more of the same on Friday. Humidity may start to creep upward just a bit. But all in all it should be a nice one with partly to mostly sunny skies and highs in the mid-to-upper 80s. No weather worries Friday night, at least that’s the way it looks now, as temperatures trend a touch warmer with lows in the upper 60s to low 70s. Confidence: Medium-High

The weekend sees humidity return to at least the moderate range with partly sunny skies, highs both days in the mid-to-upper 80s, and Saturday night lows in the upper 60s to low 70s. Shower and storm chances return as well, around 20-30% for Saturday and 40-50% for Sunday. Confidence: Low-Medium
