It’s a fairly tranquil end to July, as long as a few raindrops won’t totally spoil your mood. Highs only in the upper 70s to near 80 helped keep our below average streak going, now at 7 days and counting. A small storm system passing by along a cold front moving through the area promises to keep rain odds up and heat odds down through tomorrow.
Through Tonight: Shower chances are up. Mostly to fully cloudy skies continue to be the rule, and a few showers (some rumbles too) might be roaming at times. It’s only about a 50% chance though, and western/southern parts of the area might be favored overall. Lows mainly fall to the upper 60s and near 70 range.
Tomorrow (Thursday): We start August as we ended July — mostly gray, and cooler than normal. Periods of showers, with some embedded thunder, are a good bet (70% chance) through much of the day. It’s not an all day rain, and some spots might not see much. But, some locations could see briefly intense rain adding up to 1″ or so. Highs reach near 80 to perhaps the mid-80s.
Wind readings on your phone: Want to know how windy it is? Vaavud, the smartphone wind meter, is now available for purchase! For just over $60 you can use this nifty plug-in device on most smartphones and see a sweet wind display on screen. While tests against other consumer wind measuring products are not yet widely available, this device is cheaper than most from well-known manufactures of similar stand alones like Kestrel.
Pollen update: Grass, tree and weed pollen remain LOW. Mold spores are LOW/MODERATE.
