With the start of a new week, gone are highs in the 70s and low humidity levels. We probably crack 80 today and a few storms could swing through.

As the week wears on, there’s not much opportunity for rain but we could flirt with 90, and more than once. Meanwhile, humidity levels – while not horrible – are much higher than they were late last week.

Today (Monday): Look out for some patchy fog early; otherwise, the morning is partly sunny and warm, with temperatures climbing through the 60s and 70s.  During the afternoon, highs reach the low 80s but a disturbance swinging through offers a 40-50 percent chance of showers and storms (most likely window around 2-7 p.m.).  Winds are mostly light. Confidence: Medium-High

Tonight: There’s a 20-30 percent chance of early evening storms followed by partly cloudy skies.  Lows are in the low-to-mid 60s to near 70. Confidence: Medium-High

Tomorrow (Tuesday): A great beach day.  Skies are partly to mostly sunny and it’s very warm. Highs range from 85-90, with light winds from the north at around 5-10 mph.  Humidity levels are moderate-to-high with dew points in the mid-60s. Confidence: Medium-High

Tomorrow night: Partly cloudy skies and seasonably mild and muggy.  Lows drop from the mid-to-upper 60s in the suburbs to the low-to-mid 70s downtown. Confidence: Medium-High

A LOOK AHEAD

The Wednesday through Friday stretch is very typical for the region in late August.  Each day features partly sunny skies, moderate-to-high humidity levels (but shy of oppressive), and very warm temperatures. Highs are generally in the upper 80s to perhaps low 90s (with moderate to high humidity), with overnights lows in the upper 60s to mid-70s.  There is a slight (20 percent) chance of storms Thursday afternoon/evening and a somewhat better (30 percent) chance Friday as a front nears the region.  Confidence: Medium

The weekend looks pretty good, although – if the front gets held up – I can’t rule some lingering higher humidity and storm chances Saturday.  But, most likely, it tries to dry out, with highs in the low-to-mid 80s with lows in the 60s. Confidence: Low-Medium
