Our timing could not be much better this week. The sweaty stormy stuff has its last hurrah today. Then we can look forward to a much drier and still warm but not hot weekend. With a little luck that will appease most of the pool and beach crowd while leaving us land lovers in peace. My condolences to the kids going back to school Monday as next week looks like another steamy one.

Today (Thursday): There is a 30% chance that there will be some lingering morning showers and about the same chance that some t-storms could try to zip in ahead of a cold front late in the day. High humidity makes the air seem thick! Highs are mainly upper 80s but sunnier spots could crack the 90-degree mark. Light winds from the west provide a little cooling for the sweat-ridden. Confidence: Medium-High

Tonight: A few thunderstorms are expected to linger into the evening with the chance holding at about 30% of them reaching you personally. The light west wind continues to provide some cooling for evening readings in the lower 80s. Skies clear overnight and lows hold in the upper 60s to lower 70s. Confidence: Medium-High

Tomorrow (Friday): There is still a slight (20%) chance for a shower to linger in the area in the morning. While the drop in humidity may be a slow process it is a blessedly steady one through the day. Light winds from the north are to be thanked for the drying. Highs are a little tamer as well, topping out mainly in the mid-80s with just a few upper 80s in the typically hot spots. Confidence: High

Tomorrow night: The lack of humidity does wonders for the evening with readings quickly slipping into the 70s with only very light north breezes. Stars shine brightly and lows are comfy in the low-to-mid 60s. Confidence: High

A LOOK AHEAD

Saturday is a winner! Spectacular sunshine, barely a breeze and warm temps without the humidity. Highs in the mid-80s are seasonable for this time of year and still worthy of pool time. The low humidity should allow readings to quickly slip into the 70s in the evening and then to the low-to-mid 60s for overnight lows. Confidence: High

Sunday is nearly an identical twin of Saturday with just a few clouds to set off the blue skies. Highs remain in the mid-80s in most areas and humidity still holds low enough to be a non-factor. Confidence: Medium-High

Monday is a tougher call as a dome of heat builds out in the Midwest it could push some t-storms down from the Great Lakes into our area (30% chance). The clouds should be welcome as they counter the heat and humidity that look likely to build in for the much of the new week. Highs should be mid-to-upper 80s . Confidence: Medium
