FORECAST IN DETAIL

Football’s back!  But, it doesn’t quite feel like it today as we’re reminded that it’s not truly fall just yet.  Still, it’s another pleasant day around here even if several degrees warmer than yesterday.  We’ve got another shot of cooler and drier air to start off the work week. But that quickly gives way to midweek heat and humidity as temperatures flirt with 90 and perhaps a thunderstorm rolls through.

Temperature Map

Today (Sunday): We’ll see a bit of a rise in both heat and humidity levels, though the latter is still on the low-to-moderate end. Skies are partly sunny as morning temperatures rise into and through the 70s, on their way to highs mainly in the upper 80s. Can’t rule out a stray midday shower as a cold front crosses the area. Overall, though, it’s another nice weekend day, albeit on the warm side.  Winds are around 10 mph, from the southwest early, and veering to come from the north during the afternoon. Confidence: High

Tonight: Drier air again filters into the area, clearing our skies and cooling our temperatures. It’s a nice tranquil night with light winds from the north and lows in the mid-50s to low 60s. Confidence: High

Another heat wave on the way?  Keep reading for the forecast through midweek…

Tomorrow (Monday): High pressure centered to our north/northeast is on the move, but stays in control long enough for a pretty nice start to the work week. Skies range from partly cloudy to mostly sunny and highs are pleasant, in the upper 70s to near 80, as humidity is knocked down once again. Winds blow lightly at 5-10 mph, from the northeast in the morning and turning to come form the southeast in the afternoon. Confidence: Medium-High

Tomorrow night: Just like that, our high pressure is out to sea, giving way increasing humidity and clouds. Just a slight chance of a shower, or perhaps some fog or mist as winds stay light but moist from the south/southeast. Overnight lows are on the warmer side compared to recent nights, only down to the mid-60s. Confidence: Medium-High

A LOOK AHEAD

We’re on the warm side of a warm front well off to our north Tuesday and Wednesday, and that means a rather sudden return to a more summery weather pattern. You’ll probably be cranking up the A/C again as highs reach the upper 80s to near 90 under partly to mostly sunny skies, and with noticeable humidity. Tuesday probably stays dry, but we might see a few showers or thunderstorms on Wednesday. Tuesday night is partly cloudy and warm, with lows in the upper 60s to low 70s. Confidence: Medium
