FORECAST IN DETAIL

September, lack of rain aside, has been a beautiful month.  And it appears as if October will pick up right where September left off. Pleasant 70s today and then warm 80s through Saturday.  The next solid chance of rain arrives late Saturday, to be followed by cooler weather Sunday.

nice dayToday (Monday): A weak cold front dies out over the region today, spreading some mid-high level clouds – especially this afternoon – but no rain.  We should have at least 50 percent sunshine for the balance of the day, with highs in the mid-70s.  Light winds. Confidence: Medium-High

Tonight: Partly cloudy skies in the evening, becoming mostly clear late at night.  Lows range through the 50s – upper 50s downtown, low 50s in the cooler suburbs.  Light winds. Confidence: Medium-High

nice dayTomorrow (Tuesday): Back comes summer.  Plentiful sunshine (just a few scattered clouds at times) elevates temperatures towards the 80-degree mark, and perhaps a couple degrees above it.  But there are no humidity worries, with dew points down in the 50s. Winds are light, from the west at 5-10 mph. Confidence: Medium-High

Tomorrow night: Mostly clear and calm.  Lows range from the low 50s in the cooler suburbs to the upper 50s downtown. Confidence: Medium-High

A LOOK AHEAD

Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday are partly to mostly sunny and unseasonably warm.  Highs each day should be in the mid-80s, at least 10 degrees above average.  Humidity levels remain pleasantly low and it’s cool enough at night to open up the windows, with lows in the mid-50s in the cooler suburbs to the low 60s downtown. Confidence: Medium-High

Saturday’s the final day in the summery streak, with highs again pushing 80 or a bit higher.  In the afternoon into the overnight hours, showers and storms are a possibility as a cold front marches into the region.  The exact timing of the cold front is uncertain, so stay tuned for possible tweaks to this forecast.  Lows Saturday night most likely in the 50s. Confidence: Medium

Partly cloudy, breezy and cooler Sunday, but probably dry (unless the front timing slows down).  Highs should be near 70. Confidence: Medium
