FORECAST IN DETAIL

Our sunny and warm Shutdown City has turned cloudy and cool, while a coastal storm threatens damp and somewhat dismal conditions starting this afternoon or evening and possibly lasting into the weekend. We could certainly use some more drops in the rain bucket, though model disagreement means a high degree of uncertainty as to how much rain will actually fall during the next few days. Regardless, it’ll be nice to see the sun again when it does come back, hopefully early next week.

Today (Wednesday): Clouds thicken through the day as highs only make the mid-60s, thanks to the mostly cloudy skies and a cool wind from the northeast around 15 mph. A few showers may try to work in from the southeast during the mid-to-late afternoon (30% chance). Confidence: Medium

Tonight: Rain chances increase to around 70-80% during the evening and overnight. By morning, many spots may have accumulated up to around 0.5-1″ of rain. Then again, totals could be lower if the steadiest rain veers east of the area. Lows should be somewhere in the mid-50s. Confidence: Medium-High

Tomorrow (Thursday): Scattered showers, or at least periods of drizzle, seem like a decent bet through much of the day. Temperatures can’t do much of anything with cloudy skies and a cool breeze from the north, only topping out in the upper 50s to low 60s. Confidence: Medium

Tomorrow night: Perhaps some more scattered showers or at least that persistent threat of drizzle. Lows retreat to the low-to-mid 50s. Confidence: Medium

A LOOK AHEAD

Looks like we’ll be hard-pressed to shake the onshore flow, which means we likely stay cool, partly to mostly cloudy, and occasionally showery or drizzly Friday through Sunday, though probably a bit less damp with each passing day. Highs stay stuck in the 60s with nighttime lows in the 50s. Confidence: Low-Medium
