The seesaw of changing seasons continues. Warm today, cool tomorrow, cool on Monday, and perhaps turning warmer again by Tuesday. If you’re looking for the most serene part of the weekend to spend outdoors, it’s probably from the time you read this through at least early afternoon, maybe evening. After that, the cooler air floodgates really open, sending us a few days like we might normally expect at the end of the month.

Today (Saturday): Other than some patchy fog or higher clouds early early, it starts off quite nice, and tries to stay that way. However, cold air aloft and a jet stream up above both try to bring increased cloudiness as we go. The surface chill behind the cold front is still hanging out to our northwest for now, so enjoy those highs in the mid-60s. Maybe even upper 60s? Winds are light early, becoming sustained at 10-15 mph and gusty from the northwest with time. Slight chance of a shower before sunset (the last “late” one for a while). Confidence: Medium

PSA: Change those clocks back before bed!

Tonight: Skies range from partly-to-mostly cloudy through the night. An isolated shower is possible, especially early. Winds continue to be a bit of a nuisance, blowing around 10 mph from the northwest and north. You’ll definitely notice the cold air more by this point, with lows headed for the upper 30s to mid-40s range. Confidence: Medium

Tomorrow (Sunday): If clouds are still around in the morning, they should tend to diminish as the day goes, but a few more may form in the afternoon. It’s breezy and bordering on windy at times, through pretty much the whole day. At peak we might be looking at sustained around 15-20 mph from the north. Highs are largely in the near 50 to mid-50s range. Confidence: Medium-High

Tomorrow night: After the chilled high temperatures, we lose at least a bit of the wind and stay mostly clear. Prime recipe for a cold night. The normally frozenest spots outside the city reach the upper 20s, with a lot of others right around freezing. Will DCA remain a holdout? Confidence: Medium-High

A LOOK AHEAD

Monday should bring mostly sunny skies, and another fairly cool day. Even with those rays beaming down, we only see high temperatures rise to near 50, perhaps up toward the mid-50s if we get lucky. It should be less breezy at least! Confidence: Medium

After relaxed overnight chill and morning lows mainly in the 30s, Tuesday has slightly warmer temperatures as well. Unfortunately, the mild-up may come with increased clouds. Highs in the upper 50s to near 60 should still go well with foliage color continuing to peak in the area. Try to get a moment away from work! Confidence: Medium
