FORECAST IN DETAIL

Temperature Map

Temperatures: Latest D.C. area temperature map. See interactive map on our Weather Wall.

We may not see a lot of sun over the next several days, but a general flow pattern from the south brings progressively milder weather to the region until Friday.  On Thursday, we could hit 60!  An arctic front brings rain and cooler temperatures Friday into Saturday.  By late Sunday, icy cold air could be in place when another storm could threaten…

Today (Monday): This day looks and feels a lot like Sunday. Skies are generally mostly cloudy, but a sunnier interval or two is possible. Highs reach the mid-to-upper 40s with light winds. Confidence: Medium-High

Tonight: Partly to mostly cloudy and chilly.  Lows range from the low 30s in the colder suburbs to the mid-to-upper 30s downtown.  Light winds. Confidence: Medium-High

Tomorrow (Tuesday): We’re in between weather systems (low pressure to the northeast and high pressure to the west), so it’s a tranquil, unremarkable weather day.  Under partly sunny skies, highs aim for the upper 40s and low 50s (right around average), with light winds. Confidence: Medium-High

Tomorrow night: Partly cloudy and seasonable.  Lows range from the low-to-mid 30s in the colder suburbs to the upper 30s to near 40 downtown. Confidence: Medium-High

A LOOK AHEAD

Breezes from the south boost temperatures to the week’s highest levels Wednesday and Thursday. Under partly to mostly cloudy skies, highs reach the mid-50s Wednesday and all the way to near 60 Thursday.  Wednesday night is quite mild, with lows 45-50 (suburbs-city).  Confidence: Medium

Late Thursday night through Saturday morning, an arctic front slowly moves through the region.  Periods of rain are likely during this stretch (not continuous rain), with temperatures mostly in the 40s. Confidence: Medium

Snow Potential Index

A daily assessment of the potential for at least ~1″ of snow in the next week, on a 0-10 scale.

1 (↑) Poss snow/ice risk around 1 week from now- far off, but bears watching.

Partial clearing during the day Saturday, but chilly, with temperatures holding steady in the 40s.  Partly cloudy and cold Saturday night, with lows 25-30 (suburbs-city). Confidence: Low-Medium

By Sunday, clouds increase as a wave of low pressure develops from the south. By late in the day, there’s a chance of snow, ice, and/or rain, with highs 35-40. Confidence: Low-Medium
