PM Update: Cloudy and seasonably cold tonight, milder Thursday

It was another cold one, as highs only reached the upper 20s to around 30 most spots. We’re now around 48 hours below freezing across the area, and we’ve got at least another 12+ to go. The thaw begins tomorrow as temperatures threatening 40 may feel almost springlike. Yet Arctic air rarely likes to quickly give in, so while the day looks A-OK, there may be some wintry trickery right afterward.

Through Tonight: High clouds that floated by at times today continue to do so tonight, but in a more numerous way. In general, mostly cloudy should do it. Lows dip as far as near 20 in the coldest spots, to the mid-or-upper 20s downtown. Not a lot of temperature movement really. Winds are light from the south early, and becoming pretty calm overnight.

Tomorrow (Thursday): Clouds tend to break a bit heading through sunrise, and we should see at least periods of sunshine during the day. It’s a tough call between partly and mostly cloudy though. I’ll lean to the former. High temperatures may be as low as the mid-30s in the colder holdouts to the upper 30s and around around 40 most places.
