Enough already: Dulles Airport sets another record low

Parkas in late March? Yep. (Kevin Wolf via Flickr)

The temperature at Dulles Airport plunged to 19 degrees this morning, breaking the old record of 21 from 1984 for the date.  This is the second record low set at Dulles this month (other date March 4, when it was -1 ) and fourth record low this winter (other dates February 28 and January 7, when it was 14 and 6, respectively.).

Dulles weather records date to 1963.  As the period of record is relatively short, records are set there more frequently/easily compared to D.C.-Reagan National and Baltimore-BWI (whose records date back to the 1870s).

Amazingly, this was Dulles’ 33rd morning with a low temperature in the teens this cold season – or the equivalent of a month.

The lows of 22 and 26 at BWI and Reagan National Airports were not records, but still  about 15 degrees below “average” low temperatures for the date.
