FORECAST IN DETAIL

Sunny skies may be hard to come by until the weekend, but highs mainly in the 60s over the next several days are plenty pleasant. Showers and even some thundershowers are an occasional threat today into tomorrow night and then again on Monday. They could be disruptive at times, though fingers crossed they take a break for tomorrow’s home opener at Nats Park. The best news we’ve got is a good looking weekend with sun and more 60s.

Today (Thursday): A warm front in the area may produce a few showers. Best chance looks to be during the morning commute and then again mid-to-late afternoon. Otherwise, skies are partly to mostly cloudy with perhaps a midday period of increased sun. Morning temperatures rise through the 50s and afternoon highs reach the 60s. Winds are light, around 5-10 mph from the northeast and east. Confidence: Medium-High

Tonight: We’ll carry a 60% chance of showers during the evening and overnight. Any heavier activity may be focused more so from around the District toward points north, while showers may be of the lighter variety for southern parts of the area. It’s a cloudy and mild one with lows near 50 to the mid-50s. Confidence: Medium

Tomorrow (Friday): The greatest risk of showers (around 40%) is during the early-to-mid morning, and then again toward late afternoon and evening, when thundershowers are possible as well. That means there’s some chance we see a dry-ish window for Opening Day at Nats Park (1:05 p.m. start), but forecast confidence isn’t terribly high just yet at least. Skies are partly to mostly cloudy, perhaps sunniest during the midday, as highs top out in the 60s again. Confidence: Low-Medium

Tomorrow night: Shower and thundershower chances increase to 60% for the evening before decreasing overnight. Lows drop back to the upper 40s to mid-50s. Confidence: Low-Medium

A LOOK AHEAD

The weekend looks like a beauty. Perhaps not quite as warm as many of us are craving. But mostly sunny skies both days with highs back in the 60s should be more than satisfactory. Saturday night and Sunday night lows dip down into the 40s. Confidence: Medium-High

After a weekend break, our active pattern resumes on Monday with a good chance of rain and highs in the mid-50s to low 60s. Confidence: Low-Medium
