FORECAST IN DETAIL

Monday’s murkiness is in our rear view as the responsible storm system pulls away, allowing sunshine to return, especially later today. The sun is then dominant tomorrow and Thursday.  Temperatures settle into seasonal ranges through midweek before shifting warmer than normal by Thursday and Friday.  A new weather system may spark some more April showers Friday afternoon extending into Saturday morning, but later Saturday and then Sunday are looking nice with temperatures surging into the 70s.

Today (Tuesday): Morning clouds and some patchy fog are possible before clearing begins.  We’ll call this morning partly sunny with then mostly sunny conditions by afternoon.  The pressure gradient between the departing low pressure and approaching high pressure is sharp enough to enhance our winds today.  Winds from the northwest at 15-20 mph could gust to as high as 30 or even a bit more especially by mid-to-late morning through the midday hours.  They may fade a bit by mid to late afternoon.  Highs in the low to middle 60s.  Confidence: Medium-High

Tonight: Just a few clouds possible, but otherwise a cool night with calming winds.  Lows in the mid to upper 30s in the outer suburbs to the low to middle 40s in the city feel slightly cooler thanks to breezes from the northwest at 5 to 10 mph.  Confidence: Medium-High

Tomorrow (Wednesday):  Mostly sunny skies with temperatures extending into the low to middle 60s provide that springtime feel to tomorrow.  But we do have some breezy conditions (15-20 mph) at times during midday and afternoon hours.   Confidence: Medium-High

Tomorrow night: Diminishing winds and mostly clear skies mean temperatures dip just a bit cooler with lows ranging from the middle 30s in the outer suburbs to the lower 40s right in the city.  Confidence: Medium-High

A LOOK AHEAD

Thursday is my personal pick for best day of the week weather-wise.  Mostly sunny skies, highs in the upper 60s to around 70, and light breezes combine forces to justify Nice Day status potentially.  Few clouds are possible Thursday night with milder lows ranging from the middle 40s to the low 50s.  Confidence: Medium-High

Friday introduces another weather system to our area.  Look for partly cloudy skies in the morning with a chance of showers by afternoon into evening.  Highs should range from the upper 60s to low 70s, but we’ll have to watch the timing and placement of rain showers, as they could slow highs a bit.  More showers around the area Friday night as lows drop only in the 50s.  Confidence: Medium

The weekend may still work out to be fairly nice overall, but the weather system from Friday should linger into Saturday morning to offer a few more showers around the area before shifting drier and toward partly sunny skies on Saturday afternoon.  That timing may change slower or faster, so we’ll need to watch that closely.  Temperatures are anticipated to dip into the upper 40s to low 50s on Saturday night with partly cloudy skies.  Then comes Sunday with its potential for warming winds to deliver highs in the low to middle 70s under partly to mostly sunny skies.  Sunday has a reasonable shot to be our warmest day of April so far.  Confidence: Medium
