FORECAST IN DETAIL

If Sunday’s cool-in-the-shade, warm-in-the-sun demeanor wasn’t quite springy enough for you, today’s slightly warmer and brighter disposition may be more to your satisfaction.  If that doesn’t do it, Tuesday highs solidly in the 70s have spring written all over them, but so does the chance of showers and thunderstorms during the afternoon into evening. We’re back to the 60s on Wednesday plus some wind, too, with another chance of showers by the time we get into Friday.

nice dayToday (Monday): We should be a touch sunnier than yesterday — we’ll call it partly to mostly sunny — and a touch warmer too with highs in the upper 60s to near 70, after another cool morning start. High clouds may increase from the west during the late afternoon, but overall it’s a fine way to start the work week, and even better if you have the day off. Winds are light and variable. Confidence: Medium-High

Tonight: This evening is an excellent one weather-wise as temperatures retreat toward and eventually into the 50s. A light breeze from the south makes for milder overnight lows in the upper 40s to low 50s under partly cloudy skies. Confidence: High

Tomorrow (Tuesday): Milder winds near 10-15 mph from the southwest send Tuesday temperatures heading for highs in the mid-to-upper 70s despite partly to mostly cloudy skies. Clouds darken during the afternoon when any given location has a 60% chance of seeing showers or thunderstorms roll through, a few of which could be strong. Confidence: Medium

Tomorrow night: That 60% chance of showers and storms continues to start the evening, but any activity should be on its way out by around mid-to-late evening. We’ll see clearing skies overnight and winds increasing to 15-20 mph from the northwest, with higher gusts, as lows bottom in the upper 40s to near 50. Confidence: Low-Medium

A LOOK AHEAD

Plenty of sun is in store for our Wednesday, and a good deal of wind as well. Look for gusts from the west-northwest near 35 mph, adding a bit of a chill to highs in the 60s. Winds calm Wednesday night with lows in the upper 30s to upper 40s (suburbs to city). Confidence: Medium-High

With no major weather systems nearby, Thursday is a quiet day with partly sunny skies and highs somewhere in the 60s the way it looks now. Thursday night should be mostly fine as well, though maybe a chance of showers overnight or toward morning as lows settle in the upper 40s to low 50s. Confidence: Medium

Another front works its way through the area on Friday with a 40-50% chance of showers, and maybe a thunderstorm, at some point during the day and/or Friday night. Daytime highs should manage to warm into the 70s. Confidence: Medium

The weekend looks potentially unsettled at times with some models showing an area of low pressure passing nearby. But really it’s too early to say much of anything for sure. Best guess for highs is 70s on Saturday and possibly back to the 60s on Sunday. Confidence: Medium
