Spring kicking into high gear in D.C. (PHOTOS)

The famed Tidal Basin cherry blossoms peaked from April 10 through 13, and the trees have since gone green until their brilliant fall show toward the end of this year. But, the cherry bloom is just the beginning of D.C.’s explosion of color following a winter slumber.

In the week or so since the cherry blossoms came and went, I’ve been wandering the city looking for the rest of the story of spring’s arrival. As the days wear on, it’s less and less difficult to find signs of the warm season all around.

Soon enough, it’ll be looking like summer out there. Be sure to stop and smell the abundant flowers before that happens!
