FORECAST IN DETAIL
After yesterday, today is a walk in the park! Yes, a shower or two is possible, but it’s mostly dry and warm. Even better? The weekend presents my idea of the perfect start to May. It’s comfortably mild, dry, mainly sunny, dry, and boasts gentle breezes… Did I mention dry?
The weekend’s a great time to see the azaleas as they begin to peak in many gardens. And sky watchers can catch a beaming Venus in the pre-dawn sky or a growing crescent moon in the evening.
Today (Thursday): Showers may hound us in the morning (40 percent chance), especially early, but should be scattered. Irrespective of whether or not it’s raining, expect a slow commute due to road closures in some areas from creek flooding and standing water in areas of poor drainage.
In the afternoon, areas west of I-95 should finally be left in peace. But areas along and east of I-95 could (25 percent chance) see a shower or two pop up as the front is slow to depart. Breezes are light from the west. Temps are balmy with highs in the mid-to-upper 70s. Confidence: Medium
Tonight: Stars finally get to show as clouds remain scattered and fleeting. The wind is still light from the northwest as the storm has lost all of its punch. Lows slip to the upper 40s to lower 50s. Confidence: High

Tomorrow (Friday): The sun gets top billing to start the day but a few clouds are likely to pop up by afternoon. However, rain chances are nil. Breezes are still quite light from the west. Highs are right on the climatological norm; mainly lower 70s. Looks like a great day to make an early escape from work to do something outdoors. Confidence: High
Tomorrow night: A beautiful crescent moon graces the western sky after sunset and readings are still comfortably in the 60s. Skies remain clear and with nearly calm winds, readings drop off smartly, reaching the mid-40s in the burbs to near 50 downtown. Confidence: High
A LOOK AHEAD
Saturday would be hard pressed to be any better with mostly sunny skies, light breezes, and highs in the low-to-mid 70s. Breezes pick up a little overnight but lows are still tolerable with upper 40s to lower 50s, again about as close to normal for this time of year as you can get. Confidence: High
Sunday is another fine, sunny, spring day but breezes should pick up first from the southwest and then switch to northwest in the afternoon as a weak cold front zips through the area. It is blessedly moisture-starved so while clouds may pick up in number in the afternoon, the chance of any showers is less than 20%. Highs again top out in the low-to-mid 70s. Skies clear overnight with lows in the mid-to-upper 40s. Confidence: Medium-High
Monday is sunny and mild with highs in the upper 60s to lower 70s. Happy Cinco de Mayo indeed! Confidence: High
