Mild southerly flow lifted today’s temperatures into the mid-to-upper 70s – some welcome warmth after generally cool and rainy weather since late Monday. A cool front passing this evening sets off some isolated thundershowers, but dry, refreshing air streams into the region for a delightful close to the work week.

Through Tonight: A 20 percent chance of an evening shower or thundershower, mainly east and northeast of the District. Then skies gradually clear, with lows in the mid-40s in our cooler suburbs to the low 50s downtown. Winds from the south become from the northwest at 5-10 mph.

Tomorrow (Friday): Mostly sunny and gorgeous. Highs reach towards the 70 degree mark in most spots. Winds are from the west at 10-15 mph, with some gusts over 20 mph – so it may feel a bit cool, especially when you step into shady areas.

One last look: Here’s the satellite view of the behemoth storm – which wreaked havoc from the Midwest to the East Coast this week.

It still looks impressive.
