Even a gusty breeze and possible p.m. shower can’t take too much away from a mild mix of sun and clouds.

Express Forecast

Today: Sun and cloud mix, very breezy. 30-40% chance of a shower. Highs: Mid-70s.

Tonight: Evening shower? Lows: 40s to near 50.

Tomorrow: Partly to mostly cloudy. 40-50% chance of p.m. showers. Highs: Mid-60s.

FORECAST IN DETAIL

The weekend got off to a nice start after last week’s deluge, and should finish mostly nice as well. I say “mostly” because we do have a gusty breeze to deal with today as well as a possible shower. Temperatures are mild today but cool down tomorrow with a better chance of showers later in the day. We get back into some typical spring warmth for Tuesday and Wednesday ahead of a more significant warm up later in the week.

Today (Sunday): Scattered clouds give us a partly sunny day much like yesterday, with slightly warmer highs heading for the mid-70s. Of note, though, is the change in the winds. They’ll whip up during the day as a cold front works through, starting from the southwest in the morning and shifting to come from the northwest later in the day, with sustained winds near 15-20 mph and gusts near 30 mph. With the cold front we’ll need to watch again for the possibility (30-40% chance) of a few scattered afternoon showers. Confidence: Medium-High

Tonight: Scattered evening clouds may still contain a quick-hitting early-evening shower (30% chance). Skies should then trend clearer later in the evening and into the overnight. Winds are still breezy during the evening, from the northwest around 10-20 mph. They’ll settle down overnight, but not before ushering in a slightly cooler air mass with lows in the 40s to near 50. Confidence: Medium-High

Tomorrow (Monday): We’re a bit cooler to start the new work week, sitting just north of a stationary front, as highs stall in the mid-60s. With the front in close proximity, we’ll probably see more in the way of clouds especially by afternoon, with partly to mostly cloudy skies overall. We’ll also be watching for possible showers developing to the west and working through our area during the afternoon into evening (40-50% chance). Confidence: Medium

Tomorrow night: Occasional showers remain a threat through much of the night with chances continuing around 40-50% under mostly to partly cloudy skies. Any showers should move south and east of the area by dawn, leaving us with lows in the mid-40s to near 50. Confidence: Medium

A LOOK AHEAD

By Tuesday and Wednesday, weak high pressure exudes a little more confidence and takes control of our weather. That leaves us with warmer and drier conditions to come. Skies should be of the partly to mostly sunny variety and highs bump up into the upper 60s to low 70s, making for a nice stretch of spring weather before a possible taste of summer later in the week. Confidence: Medium-High
