A 30 percent chance of Sharknadoes in D.C. today?

This is the actual map of the probability of damaging winds (greater than 58 mph) for the U.S. this afternoon and evening (within 25 miles of a point) – issued by the National Weather Service.

Looks fishy. (National Weather Service Storm Prediction Center)

The map has an unmistakable look of a shark: protruding fin and all. And D.C. is right in the shark’s eye.

I suppose when CWG’s Jeff Halverson – in his assessment of the severe weather risk today – said there was “a catch“, he was onto something

(But seriously: we do have a risk of some rough weather this evening. See Jeff’s post for more: Severe storms possible this afternoon and evening and stay tuned for updates this afternoon)
