Today was more or less your typical D.C. late June day: on the humid side, with temperatures in the mid-to-upper 80s. Tomorrow strikes a similar chord, but we add some thunderstorms to the mix

Through Tonight: Radar shows shower and thunderstorms well to our west in West Virginia and western Maryland. That activity is unlikely to make it here tonight (just a 10 percent chance in our western areas). Under partly to mostly cloudy skies, it’s humid, with lows in the upper 60s in our cooler suburbs with low-to-mid 70s downtown. Light winds from the south around 5-10 mph.

Tomorrow (Wednesday): There’s an outside (20 percent) chance of showers in thunderstorms as early mid-morning, but the best chance of storms is in the late afternoon and especially the early evening hours, when the likelihood rises to around 60 percent. Before and between any shower and thunderstorm activity, it’s variably cloudy, warm, and humid, with highs in the mid-to-upper 80s. Winds are from the south around 10 mph.

Severe storms tomorrow?: Right now, we don’t expect widespread severe thunderstorms tomorrow. Yes, a few storms could be heavy with lightning, thunder and a strong wind gust or two, but damaging winds and/or hail should – at most – be isolated. We’ll update this assessment, as needed, tomorrow.
