Turbulent skies and violent soccer at Colorado Rapids game Tuesday night

Towering thunderstorms flared up around Denver Tuesday evening and then tempers flared at the city’s Major League Soccer venue where a fight broke out.

Billowing clouds, the setting sun, and the occasional bolt of lightning produced striking views for spectators attending the Colorado Rapids game against the visiting Atlanta Silverbacks.

But the show had just begun. Following the lightning-induced weather stoppage at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park, a new storm erupted on the field. A brawl burst forth resulting in four player ejections and “one unbelievable five-minute fight that also saw both head coaches ejected” reports MLSSoccer.com.

Rapids coach Pablo Mastroeni called it a “chaotic night.” I’ll say.
