A complex of storms tore through Chicago Tuesday afternoon and evening, producing spectacular skies.
Capital Weather Gang reader Gregory Spivak found himself on the observation deck on the top of the Hancock Building and captured dramatic sweeping views of the storm’s approach and departure.

Torrential rain accompanied the storm as it passed, flooding and shutting down the Eisenhower Expressway, according to the Chicago Tribune. The vigorous storms even produced a few funnel clouds around the Chicago region, including this one:

The front that triggered these storms will roll through the D.C. area later today with a round of showers and storms of our own. (We’ll have additional details midday.)
