FORECAST IN DETAIL
A pool of cool air at high altitudes slowly swings through the area over the next few days, treating us to another round of super-pleasant summer weather. Today through Thursday are top-tier Nice Day qualifiers. As we see highs from the upper 70s to mid-80s just remember that record highs over the next three days range from 99-104!
August starts on Friday and a flow of more humid conditions returns at that point to trigger thunderstorm chances that carry into the weekend. Despite the shift, we still manage to keep most temperatures near to below normal for this time of year, so those days can still be considered decent, on balance.
Today (Tuesday): Feel-good weather rules the day with mostly sunny skies, very low humidity, and temperatures just ambling their way to highs in the mere upper 70s to low 80s. Light breezes from the west and north at 5 to 10 mph even enhance the cooling effect a slight bit. Confidence: High
Tonight: A very pleasant evening (too bad the Nats aren’t in town!) and overnight with very low humidity and temperatures ranging through the 50s in the outer suburbs to low 60s right in the city. Just a few clouds around at times with light winds from the west around 5 mph. Confidence: High

Tomorrow (Wednesday): Another quality Nice Day delivery thanks to very slow-moving high pressure with mostly sunny skies, temperatures in the low to middle 80s, and most importantly, very low humidity. Light winds from the west and northwest at around 5 to 10 mph. Confidence: Medium-High
Tomorrow night: Mostly clear and pleasant with low humidity continuing. Lows toward dawn range from the upper 50s in the suburbs to low to middle 6os in the city. Light winds. Confidence: High
A LOOK AHEAD
Thursday should squeak in as our third day of Nice Day conditions as high temperatures crest around the mid-80s, dew points stay relatively low (comfortable humidity), and we keep that sky cover mostly sunny. Thursday night sees humidity and cloud cover creep up a bit with lows ranging through the 60s. Confidence: Medium-High
Friday kicks off August with increased humidity (moderate levels) and peak afternoon temperatures not too hot with mid-80s range at least under partly sunny sky conditions. We run a 40 percent risk of afternoon showers and storms. Friday night is partly cloudy after some evening shower/storm chances with lows ranging through the 60s. Confidence: Medium-High
The weekend manages to maintain moderate humidity levels with partly cloudy skies and continued risk of showers and storms focused toward the afternoon and evenings especially. Neither day should be a complete washout; as of right now, Saturday has a slightly better chance of activity than Sunday. Highs should range from the middle to upper 80s with humidity at moderate to sometimes edge-of-high levels (especially after any rain). Saturday night looks to have a few clouds with lows ranging from the middle 60s to low 70s. Confidence: Low-Medium
