Tonight: Partly cloudy. Lows: Upper 50s to mid-60s.

Tomorrow: Partly to mostly sunny. Highs: Mid-80s.

FORECAST IN DETAIL

Amazingly, the deeper we go into what should be the Dog Days of summer, the better the weather seems to get. Yesterday was spectacular and today is almost as nice, just a few degrees warmer. The good times roll right on into Thursday before humidity and shower chances creep back Friday into this weekend. Still, no real heat wave on the horizon, at least not through the early part of next week.

nice day

Today (Wednesday): Another remarkable day for late July begins with wake-up temps in the upper 50s to low 60s. High pressure keeps skies mostly sunny through the day, and the humidity stays way low with dew points in the low-to-mid 50s. How about afternoon highs? They hit the sweet spot, from near 80 to the low 80s. Confidence: High

Tonight: After just a chance of an evening sprinkle, partly cloudy skies should prop temperatures up a bit from last night. But lows ranging from the upper 50s in the cooler outer suburbs, to the mid-60s downtown, are still super comfortable. Confidence: High

nice day

Tomorrow (Thursday): We’re a few degrees warmer than today, but still close enough to Nice Day Sun criteria. Highs hit the mid-80s under partly to mostly sunny skies and the humidity is slightly higher, but still barely noticeable, due to light winds from the south-southwest. Confidence: High

Tomorrow night: High pressure begins to lose its grip. That should allow clouds to increase and the humidity creeps higher as well. Overall it’s still a plenty decent evening and overnight with lows in the 60s area-wide. Confidence: High

A LOOK AHEAD

A moister flow from the south-southeast promotes a 30-40% chance of showers and thunderstorms Friday afternoon into evening. Before then, Friday highs should manage the low-to-mid 80s, with partly to mostly cloudy skies and humidity into the moderate range. A chance of showers may continue Friday night as lows continue their warming trend, mainly settling in the mid-to-upper 60s. Confidence: Medium

A somewhat unsettled pattern means showers and storms are a possibility on either or both weekend days. Any activity is more likely than not focused on the afternoons or evenings. But models are too indecisive at this point to skillfully offer a percent chance of rain. Highs should reach the 80s both days with a mix of sun and clouds. Confidence: Low-Medium
