PM Update: Likely dry tonight; Chance of rain Wednesday afternoon and evening

Today was more like a typical summer day than we’ve seen over the past few weeks. The temperature climbed into the 80s and the dew point was in the upper 60s, leading to moderate mugginess. Overcast skies helped to keep temps lower than they could have been. While the grey skies have been threatening rain over the past few days, we’ve managed to stay dry, and we will probably continue that way through Wednesday early afternoon.

Through Tonight: A lingering 10 percent chance of rain continues through the overnight, but like yesterday, the highest chance for rain is south of the city. Skies will remain partly to mostly cloudy. Lows will fall to the upper 60s around the city, and the mid 60s in the cooler suburbs. Winds around 5 mph from the southeast.

Tomorrow (Wednesday): Things should remain dry in the morning, but our chance of rain increases again on Wednesday afternoon. The western suburbs will see the rain first as storms moves west to east across the D.C. region. Some storms could have some heavy rainfall associated with them. Chance of rain is 50 percent, though this could climb higher in the evening inside the metro region. Highs reach the mid 80s on Wednesday as partly cloudy skies could let some sun break through. Winds out of the south 5 to 10 mph.
