Summer sure has made up for lost time the past few days, and will continue to do so until a cold front comes to the rescue late Saturday. In the meantime we stay hot and mostly muggy, other than today’s brief break from the higher humidity. We do get a more extended break from showers and storms, with the next best chance not until Saturday. Speaking of the weekend, it starts off hot and humid, but ends on a much cooler and drier note.

Today (Wednesday): A couple significant changes for today compared to recent days. First, the humidity is back down to the moderate range, making for a noticeably more comfortable day. Second, we have virtually no shower or storm chance to worry about. It’s still quite warm with partly to mostly sunny skies after early-morning clouds or fog, highs in the upper 80s to near 90, and light winds from the northwest around 5-10 mph. Confidence: High

Tonight: Skies trend toward mostly clear this evening and should stay that way overnight. We’re still somewhat muggy, but less so than recent nights, as lows drop to the mid-60s to near 70 with light to calm winds. Confidence: High

Tomorrow (Thursday): High pressure drifts off the coast, sending light winds from the southeast our way. That increases the humidity back to the moderate to high range, as temperatures head toward a repeat performance with highs again in the upper 80s to near 90. After perhaps some early-morning fog, partly to mostly sunny skies should prevail. Confidence: Medium-High

Tomorrow night: We’re fairly muggy through the evening and overnight, at least compared to most of this summer. Again, though, no showers or storms to worry about if you have evening plans, at least not the way things look now. Most spots should see lows bottom in the upper 60s to low 70s. Confidence: Medium-High

A LOOK AHEAD

No big changes weather-wise for our Friday. Still hot with highs from near 90 to the low 90s, and still with that moderate to high humidity. Only a 20-30% chance of an afternoon or evening shower or thunderstorm, followed by Friday night lows near 70 to the low 70s. Confidence: Medium-High

The weekend starts off much the same, with a hot and humid Saturday as highs rise again to near 90 or into the low 90s. By Saturday afternoon and/or night, a cold front brings a pretty good chance of showers and thunderstorms to the area. Hard to say right now, but showers and storms may linger into Sunday morning. Either way, Sunday should be a much cooler day with decreasing humidity and highs only in the upper 70s to low 80s. Confidence: Medium
