Alexander Semin doesn’t travel with Capitals to Toronto

According to the Capitals, Alexander Semin didn’t make the trip to Toronto with the rest of the team and will not face the Maple Leafs tonight at Air Canada Centre.

On Monday, Coach Bruce Boudreau said there was a “chance” that the Russian winger might get one of the remaining regular season games off to rest nagging injuries and it appears as if that will be tonight. Semin did not take part in Monday’s practice and that absence followed getting slashed on the wrists Saturday by Buffalo’s Rob Niedermayer.

It’s unclear if Semin is out tending to a wrist problem or some other injury as he was previously hampered by a groin muscle strain this season.
