Practice is underway at KCI this morning as the Capitals prepare to face Philadelphia on Thursday. The only player unexpectedly absent from the workout is Alexander Semin, who took a maintenance day according to a team spokesman.
A few quick notes from practice after the jump.
With Semin not in the mix, the Caps forward lines are as follows:
Ovechkin-Laich-Brouwer
Johansson-Aucoin-Knuble
Chimera-Perreault-Ward
Hendricks-Halpern-Beagle
Defensive pairings appear to be the same for this session as they were against the Red Wings:
Alzner-Wideman
Hamrlik-Green
Schultz-Carlson
Erskine-Orlov
— Braden Holtby and Michal Neuvirth are both taking part, while Tomas Vokoun remains sidelined by a groin muscle strain and has not been on the ice so far this morning.
— Nicklas Backstrom continues to recover from the concussion that has held him out of the lineup since Jan. 3 and was on the ice for a 35-minute workout with strength and conditioning coach Mark Nemish. The Swedish center has been on the ice eight of the past nine days.
