Alexander Semin will play against Jets; Joel Ward and John Erskine scratched

Update: Ward is sitting out because he overslept and missed a team meeting. Weigh in here.

Based on the morning skate at KCI, Alexander Semin will be in the Capitals lineup against the Jets Wednesday night at Verizon Center after being scratched in the previous outing.

Semin came off the ice with those players who expect to be playing in the evening’s game, as did Mathieu Perreault and Jeff Schultz while Joel Ward and John Erskine (shoulder) took part in a scratches’ skate.

It’s unclear if Ward is a healthy scratch, is injured or possibly still recovering from the illness that held him out of practice previously this week.

Meanwhile, Erskine was already considered questionable to face Winnipeg. The defenseman missed Monday’s game against Phoenix after falling on his surgically repaired left shoulder in practice Sunday.

Tomas Vokoun was the first goalie off the ice and will start tonight against the Jets.
