Coach Bruce Boudreau said Alexander Semin won't make the trip to Florida for back-to-back games against the Panthers and Lightning this week after absorbing a hip-to-thigh hit from Steve Bernier in the second period of Saturday's contest.
Conversely, Boyd Gordon will travel with the team and Boudreau said it's possible that the veteran forward could return to the lineup in one of the next two days. Gordon has been out of the lineup since Dec. 15 with a staph infection in a toe on his right foot.
--Semyon Varlamov started the past five games but don't be surprised if Michal Neuvirth gets back in net sometime soon, given the Capitals' hectic schedule. Washington plays three games in four nights and four games in about five and a half days with Sunday's afternoon start at home against the Senators.
