Braden Holtby, the latest goaltender age 22 or younger who has minded the Capitals’ net this season, was named the NHL’s first star of the week on Monday. Holtby has stopped 110 of 114 shots in the four appearances and three starts since he was recalled on March 3 from the AHL’s Hershey Bears. Vancouver’s Daniel Sedin and Anaheim’s Corey Perry were named the second and third stars of the week, respectively.
More to come on the Capitals’ goaltending situation later today in Tarik El-Bashir’s latest On Hockey column.
