Braden Holtby to start against Islanders

A day after being recalled from the Hershey Bears, Braden Holtby will start in net for the Capitals at Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum tonight against the Islanders. Semyon Varlamov, who did practice this morning, is still bothered by an undisclosed lower-body injury but he will serve as the backup tonight.

It will be Holtby's fifth start and sixth in-game appearance for Washington this season. In his last outing, the 21 year old allowed five goals on 23 shots in a 5-0 loss to New Jersey on Nov. 22.

More to come.
