(Toni L. Sandys/The Washington Post) Goalie Braden Holtby and his fiancée, Brandi Bodnar, have welcomed a baby boy into the world, the Capitals have confirmed.
The boy’s name is Benjamin Hunter Holtby and he was born earlier today at a Washington area hospital. The team reports that parents and baby are doing well.
No word, however, on which hand the younger Holtby will wear his catching glove on.
Benjamin’s birth comes during a busy time in Holtby’s life. At 22, the rookie is Washington’s No. 1 netminder and is set to start the biggest game of his career Saturday at Madison Square Garden, where Washington can clinch the franchise’s first trip to the Eastern Conference finals since 1998.
Holtby, like the rest of his Capitals teammates, had Thursday off from practice and was not available to comment. I’m sure he’ll be asked about it tomorrow, so check back for more details.
