Capitals’ Alex Ovechkin says he’s fine

One day after being involved in a full speed collision during practice, Alex Ovechkin confirmed that he’s fine and plans to suit up tonight against the Jets.

“It was accident,” he said about running into Mike Knuble. “Thank God it ended in good way and nobody gets real hurt.”

Ovechkin did not seem to show any ill effects from the impact and, in fact, lingered on the ice, spending about five minutes firing on timers on net from Marcus Johansson.

The Caps captain also took his usual spot on the top line with Brooks Laich and Johansson.

I’ll have more from MTS Centre in a bit.
