Capitals back from holiday break, on the ice in Buffalo

Greetings from Buffalo, where the Capitals are back on the ice after the NHL’s two-day holiday break.

Washington is showing the same lines it used in its outings before the holiday hiatus in the morning skate, so expect things to remain rather consistent there.

Here are those lines and defensive pairings:

Johansson-Backstrom-Semin
Ovechkin-Laich-Brouwer
Chimera-Halpern-Ward
Hendricks-Perreault-Knuble

Alzner-Carlson
Hamrlik-Wideman
Erskine-Orlov

Still not quite sure which goaltender will get the nod in net tonight against the Sabres. Michal Neuvirth has started four consecutive games, while Tomas Vokoun hasn’t played since Dec. 13 against Philadelphia.

Ryan Miller is expected to get the start for the Sabres, who are also expecting forwards Brad Boyes (high ankle sprain) and Jochen Hecht (foot) back in the lineup.
