Capitals’ hold optional skate at KCI

It was a very optional skate at KCI Thursday morning, where only seven Capitals are on the ice following a team meeting.

Five players that went on the road trip this week — Mathieu Perreault, Cody Eakin, Michal Neuvirth, Roman Hamrlik and Jeff Schultz — are on the ice for a light workout with Mike Green and Jay Beagle.

Green has missed 13 consecutive games with a strained right groin muscle and has not taken part in a full team practice since suffering the injury on Nov. 11 against New Jersey. Meanwhile, Beagle has missed 24 straight games and has not taken part in a regular team practice since he suffered a concussion in a fight with Arron Asham on Oct. 13.

Both players said that there is no new update on their respective recovery timelines and no projected day when they will take part in skates with the rest of the Capitals.
