The Capitals whittled their roster down even further Sunday as they made another round of cuts, assigning six players to Hershey.
Goaltender Braden Holtby, forward Matt Ford and defenseman Patrick Wellar were all assigned to the Bears, whose training camp opens today. Forwards Christian Hanson and Ryan Potulny along with defenseman Danny Richmond have been assigned to Hershey as well, pending waiver clearance.
This brings the total number of players in training camp down to 29 with 17 forwards, 10 defensemen (not including Tom Poti) and two goaltenders.
Opening day, 23-man rosters must be set by 3 p.m. on Oct. 5.
