Capitals recall Braden Holtby; Michal Neuvirth does not travel to Pittsburgh

The Capitals have recalled goaltender Braden Holtby from the Hershey Bears for tonight’s game against the Penguins.

Michal Neuvirth, who missed practice on Wednesday with a lower-body injury, did not make the trip to Pittsburgh. Coach Bruce Boudreau termed Neuvirth’s status as “day-to-day” Wednesday, but I’ll get an update on the 23-year-old goaltender later this morning.

This likely means that Tomas Vokoun will get a chance to redeem himself against the Capitals’ biggest rival after a poor debut performance against Tampa Bay earlier this week.
